Phil had his first lesson in this incredible sport from fisherman Carl Hoffman who actually let Phil use his equipment.  (Carl sure didn’t know about Phil’s track record for losing lures or handles of reels)  So, Phil is not an expert yet but has a new guide that is second to none in Puerto Vallarta.  Captain Jesus Cruz has experience working as a guide in Alaska and along with his own boat offers the best fly fishing trips available.  

Fly fishing trips are available all year round but ideally, the spring months offer some good opportunities, basically when the big game are nowhere to be found, there are a good number of smaller schooling species within the bay.  You will need to bring your own equipment, we suggest a #9 or #10 rod and small streamer flies that resemble sardines or squid. Along with poppers and klauzers.  You can inquire before your vacation and we will let you know what the current bait conditions are at the time.  A super fast retrieval seems to be the secret in most cases, Phil will do his best to put you on the fish and the rest is up to you.
